To give you an indication of just how long Bob Bonn has had his love for Mustangs, you must read this:

Do you remember the excitement 43 years ago this month that was building over the introduction of a new car to be introduced by Ford Motor Company? Finally, after two years of hype in the automotive magazines this new car promised by Ford was about to make its debut. I was excited but somewhat cautious as early photos showed a two-seat, chiseled edged front end. And, comments were about saying it would be nothing more than a warmed over Ford Falcon.

Finally, the news came that we would get to see the new Mustang April 17, 1964. A Ford dealer in the Waldo area of Kansas City promised a sneak preview at 7 PM on April 16. I arrived home from the office downtown about 5:45 PM and June had prepared a quick supper for us. We gathered our two small children (Lee had not arrived in this world yet) into our 1962 Buick Invicta Station Wagon and headed for the Waldo Ford dealership.

It was a cool spring evening and a large crowd had already gathered for the early introduction of the 1965 Mustang. The showroom windows were covered with large sheets of brown wrapping paper. As the crowd swelled Police came and blocked off the street. It was a scene reminiscent of one I had witnessed in 1948 in my hometown of Collinsville, IL when the local Pontiac dealer had half the town gathered to witness the unveiling of the beautiful 1948 Tucker automobile.

The time had come to remove the paper from the showroom windows. As the crowd stretched to see the spotlighted, beautiful POPPY RED, two -door Mustang coupe, it expressed its overwhelming approval with OOh's, AAh’s and applause. On the weekend, following the introduction of the 1965 Mustang, I visited the dealer and was able to get a good look at this exciting new 1965 Mustang. And.....it was Love at first sight!
